Erica Spiritos
Preconstruction Manager
Erica has long been interested in the design of urban environments in ways that honor the natural resources on which our lives depend. Following her Civil & Environmental Engineering studies at Carnegie Mellon University, Erica discovered mass timber structures and their potential benefits to the construction industry. She joined a major mass timber supplier and became a cornerstone of the mass timber movement in the Pacific Northwest, educating the AEC industry and facilitating solutions to deliver eight projects, including both the tallest and the largest CLT projects in the USA. With Swinerton, Erica provides project-specific expertise to support appropriate and optimal mass timber design, estimating, BIM integration and procurement strategy.
Graham Montgomery, PE
Technical Director
Graham’s passion for Timber Engineering was established through his undergraduate research at Clemson University, where he pressed and tested some of the first Southern Pine CLT panels which eventually helped lead to the codification of SYP CLT in the US. Graham’s interest and continued research served as the ground-breaking launch of the Wood Utilization + Design Institute at Clemson, which continues to do pioneering research. Upon graduation, Graham worked as a structural engineer for a predominant firm in the region, designing several of the first mass timber projects in the southeast. With Swinerton, Graham provides the technical expertise to drive forward the most efficient, well-built and cost-effective mass timber systems. He is always looking to the future for how to improve every aspect of mass timber design.
Zach Brehm, PE

His nation-wide experience with self-perform concrete and wood framing operations brings a depth of knowledge to the daily coordination, procurement, and project management efforts. As a licensed Professional Engineer, Zach has proven his ability to navigate the adoption of evolving mass timber building codes with engineers, architects, and consultants for optimized logistics and installation efficiency.
Brendan Kelly
Superintendent
Brendan is a 4th generation craftsperson with over 15 years of experience as a carpenter by trade, starting as a first term apprentice and working his way up to supervision in the Portland Metro area. His experience with both concrete and mass timber construction gives him the ability to foresee and prepare for potential conflicts regarding schedule durations, field logistics, quality, and employee safety. He is excited about mass timber for the beauty of the finished product and the increased speed of construction. Coming from the concrete world, the mass timber experience of setting structure at least three times faster gives you something to get out of bed for!
